To ensure a contraceptive reaches its highest effective potential, it must
be used exactly as directed -- that is properly and consistently.
VCF must be inserted not less than 15 minutes and not more than three hours prior to intercourse. The full 15 minutes should elapse before intercourse to be sure the Film has dissolved completely. If more than three hours have elapsed since VCF was last inserted, insert another Film. Use one Film for every act of intercourse.
If you follow the directions exactly, then you can expect the effectiveness
of VCF to be as high as 94%
Q. Are
there any side effects?
A. A
small percentage of the population (2-4%) can have a reaction
to the active ingredient, Nonoxynol-9. This would be experienced
as irritation or a burning sensation.
Q. Where
can I get VCF film?
A. VCF
can be found in over 25,000 drug stores and independent pharmacies
nationwide. VCF is also the preferred spermicidal contraceptive
of more than 6,000 Family Planning Clinics, as well as State,
County and City Health Departments throughout the country. |
